December Lover.

If you were to ask me about my most favourite season of the year, I wouldn’t have to give a second thought, coz undoubtedly it’s Christmas!!!! More than birthdays and anniversaries, I always keep waiting eagerly for Christmas. Maybe it’s so because birthdays and anniversaries are just-a-day’s-business while Christmas spirit stays throughout the month. Also because the whole world celebrates and join the festivities with much joy. There is so much of celebration everywhere. There is so much of love everywhere. There is so  much of happiness everywhere. All of these make me an unwavering December lover.

I had always been this excited about Christmas right from my childhood days; a hundred times more thrilled during those days perhaps. Getting done with the exams, waiting for the elder sister to come back home for holidays, decorating the whole house with fairy lights and charms, spending time together, cooking experiments with the mother, special prayers, midnight mass followed by breaking the lenten fast right at midnight ; fond memories are plenty 🙂

Along with the festivities and celebrations, our mother made sure she made the Christmas season more spiritual for us. Observing the lent and daily visits to church were always a must. I also remember she made us follow simple advent calender activities for the 25 days. Simple things like wishing the elders a good morning, offering flowers at the church, doing special prayers, being kind to others, doing little help to someone in need and many other things. Simple things that stick to me strong even now. Little did I know that she was planting ideals, morals and ways of living in me then. This is one of the many very fond memories of Christmas for me.

What are your fond memories?

I hope the spirit of Christmas stay with you for the days and months that follow. May the peace and joy be yours forever 🙂

A little fresh air

Its wonderful how certain simple experiences can become so rejuvenating, relaxing and overwhelming for ones soul. Like an evening by oneself at the park, listening to the passive sounds, the scent of fresh grass, watching the skies, feeling the wind touch your cheeks, your toes and your soul. Its always good to detach yourself from technology, from thoughts, from emotions and let go of it all. Just to experience peace, stillness and enjoy THE MOMENT. Away from anxieties, questions and answers, you find yourself, your existence. You learn to love yourself, to love even that part of you which you always regret about, you fear of. You learn to forgive yourself, to unlearn and start anew. You learn to enjoy and appreciate the tiniest of things. A little fresh air can bring lots of freshness to your thoughts as well. So whenever you feel a little disoriented, take some time for yourself, try meditating if you could, unburden yourself, find peace, feel light and fresh all over again 🙂

How often do we make the mistake of judging a book  by its cover, a woman by her clothes and a man by his smile and appearance !  Looks can be deceiving. Assumptions can go terribly wrong.

The dark lady in that shabby dress you saw on the street yesterday might be a happier and more content person than you. The driver of that bus you saw today in the traffic might be a better person at heart than you. That person you adore and wish to be like might be dealing with the worst battle inside, which you are totally unaware of.

If only we learnt to value the things that really matter and to see beyond the beguiling peripheries of reality !!

The Screaming Mind

Certain days, my mind play crazy games and end up making  me feel real bad about myself. For my flaws, for the things I lack and for all that I am not. I don’t think am alone in this. You might have gone through this as well, some time or the other. Once the mind starts playing this game, at times I get a very quick grip over the situation , fight the demons and conquer the negativity right away. But other times, things just go bad, real bad. Things go off the limit. The mind cooks up stories, digs out all the things buried deep down somewhere in the most dangerous parts of the mind.

It is hard to tame the mind, I know. And many a time, you end up feeling sad, desperate, inadequate and insufficient for all the things you lack.

You got less grades? You are incompetent.

You got dark skin? You are ugly.

You are fat? You are not beautiful.

You are skinny? You are still ugly.

You got no job? You are a failure.

You are a girl? You are inferior.

You got no money? You are worthless.

Now. Come on. Get to your right senses.

We are all human beings with flaws, imperfections, feelings and emotions. You don’t have to be ashamed of how you are. Nobody leads an all-happy-life. To be a little lost and disoriented is perfectly fine. Just love the way you are, be happy for what you have and work for better days.

It’s all in the mind and how you choose to take it. Tame your mind to see the goodness, to overpass the negative vibes and I bet you’ll be the happiest.

I know of no more encouraging fact

than the unquestionable ability of man

to elevate his life by conscious endeavor.

Strange Love

Do you love strangers like I do? No, not the busy ones. But the slow and silent ones. The ones with a thousand stories in their eyes. The stories that I wish I could read. At times melancholic, otherwise vibrant. The stories they long to share. Maybe, maybe not. You never know. I stand  there, eyes and heart open, trying to listen to that story lost in those numerous layers of deceptions and lies. Strange Love! You may say. But you and me maybe someone else’s stories.
